  • Former Ph.D. student, Supradeep Dutta (University of Buffalo), is
    • one of six finalist for the 2014 Wiley Blackwell Award for Outstanding Dissertation Research in the Business Policy and Strategy Division of the Academy of Management. His dissertation was titled “The role of private equity investments in technology start-ups”
    • a finalist for the 2014 Heizer Dissertation Award given by the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management for doctoral research that deals with the founding, management, growth, and development of high potential new ventures, with venture capital, or with corporate entrepreneurship.

  • In April 2014, Folta was announced as part of the Editorial Board of the new INFORMS journal Strategy Science

  • Invited presentations in last 15 months: Rutgers University, University of Strasbourg, MIT, University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University of Connecticut, European School of Management and Technology (Berlin), University of Utah, Bocconi University

  • In August 2013, started as the Thomas John and Bette Wolff Family Chair in Strategic Entrepreneurship in the School of Business at University of Connecticut. Teaching the core Strategy course in the Executive MBA program in Fall 2013.

  • Paper entitled ‘Resource relatedness, redeployability, and firm value‘ (with A Sakhartov) accepted for publication at Strategic Management Journal. In this paper we consider how resource relatedness contributes to corporate value through differential effects on synergy versus redeployability.

  • In June, co-chaired the 2013 Babson Entrepreneurship Conference Doctoral Consortium (with Frederic Delmar) in Lyon France;

  • Inducted as a Fellow of the University of Strasbourg (France) Institute for Advanced Study, which strives to encourage and support research in science and humanities at the highest level by bringing together local and foreign scholars from diverse disciplines and fostering interactions among researchers and with the wider community of the university.

  • Former Ph.D. student Arkadiy Sakhartov accepted a tenure track faculty appointment at Wharton Business School, beginning July 2012.
